The region is full of potential in terms of agriculture from fact of the climate favorable to the earliness of crops. The agricultural production therefore arrives on the market 2 to 3 weeks ahead of products from other agricultural regions in the world. In terms of renewable energies, Dakhla is located in one of the 2 constantly ventilated global corridors (the second being in Norway), which ensures the continuity of the wind resource and the sustainability of any project in this area. Dakhla concretely presents a set of clean energy development opportunities.
Dakhla has significant tourist assets: A world spot for kite surfing, Dakhla is also developing other cultural and adventure tourist niches, particularly in the hinterland, while respecting environmental constraints. Tourism, even if it represents only 1% of Dakhla's GDP, proves to be an excellent way to attract investors by converting tourists.
With 80% of aquaculture projects on a national scale hosted in the Region, the other growth lever is aquaculture: The bay of Dakhla hosts aquaculture with more than 2400 ha mobilized for this purpose. With production from other bays in the region (Cintra and Guerda), more than 50% of national production is generated here, with diversified products that are highly prized on the European market: oysters, clams, seaweed... .. It only takes 13 months to have a mature production in Dakhla instead of 3 years in Europe.
Of course, the region has fishing resources unique in the world with more than 660 km of coast full of fish. Thus, marine fishing is a key sector, exerting knock-on effects on other related activities such as aquaculture, processing industry and trade.
In terms of logistics, the region is acquiring a set of infrastructures that will allow the effective increase of South-South cooperation, through the creation of Free Trade Zones, roads, ports, industrial zones. The flow of goods is thus facilitated, towards Africa and towards the North of the country and Europe.
Thus, because of its geographical position and its many assets attracting investors from all over the world, Dakhla is also for many companies, the springboard to the African market.
