Major projects in the sector
Aquaculture Sector
- The subdivision of the projects planned by the aquaculture plan into three homogeneous sectors
-
The area considered by the aquaculture plan is between the north of the bay of Dakhla and the south of the bay of Cintra. With a total area of 225 km², it is mainly produced shellfish farming in the sites of Boutalha and Dunan Blanca. Alongside this culture, seafood such as razor clams, periwinkles, cockles and mussels will be developed on the coastal coasts. In order to allow a positive invasion of investors, a triple delimitation of the projects has been planned. These are categorized according to the farming process chosen and the seafood to be farmed. The three sectors have certain specificities in common, in particular the same climatic and socio-economic conditions. These are the sectors
🔴 M1 in the bay of Dakhla,
🔴 M2 in the intermediate zone
🔴 And M3 in Cintra Bay. - Aquaculture projects to strengthen the development of Moroccan aquaculture
-
These are 56 aquaculture farm projects in 2020. These programs include
🔴 25 seaweed farming projects for the production of red algae and gracilarias in the north of Lassarga;
🔴 31 farms for shellfish farming in Tinighir with the production of mussels, oysters, scallops and clams.
Furthermore, cooperation between Morocco and the European Union on sustainable fishing and the protection of the oceans has favored the establishment of a sectoral support plan which aims to create wealth and enable the youth employment. In addition, ANDA initiated, in November 2015, a Call for Expression of Interest (AMI) with the aim of offering investment opportunities to both internal and foreign investors. At the end of this call for demonstrations, 214 aquaculture projects were selected. Among these, 100 are carried by 507 regional young people.
